It is also a bit painful that we somehow sabotage ourselves by not always playing what little talent we have together and in the right place. That Leicester game was dying for an early roll of the dice with Pépé in for Lacazette. I also feel Ozil is better holding possession higher up the field but that boat has sailed. I think everyone is right to be slightly disappointed, but I do not think we are anywhere near a crisis. Even if we lose to United.
We all knew that this year would be a really tough learning experience for everyone, from the players to Arteta’s methods, and also Arteta adapting to his players.
He cannot play the same way all season, and will have to fashion some of his ideas around what he actually has.
This is a long term job, and he needs another two windows before we can see what he can do.
There needs to be a massive overhaul, that takes time.
