Real talk. If he fails to win anything this year again, will anyone be angry with him? How many season with 0 trophies are you willing to give him? Is a FA Cup enough ? Or you guys thinking it's title or bust for him?

I'd be curious to see a list of managers people would want us to replace him with. Bear in mind, a few years back people were twerking for Graham Potter and Erik ten Hag.
HomeSteak have to see how the season pans out, innit? Personally, I would find it very difficult to be cross with anything in the vicinity of last season. Obviously something around 80 points would require a trophy to make us all feel better.
RocktheCasbah I have a feeling it will be a little down this year, 80 max. So that leaves us the cups, he has an abysmal record in Europe, so he needs to fix that, we are not winning the CL anytime soon. So that leaves the internal cups for him. He has a bad record there as well, but he needs to fix that.
HomeSteak he has an abysmal record in Europe
This is the thing, one man's "abysmal" is another's "about standard for Arsenal actually"...
But yeah, I concede it could definitely be better!
Our quarter-final exit last season was par with the Invicible's, so definitely about standard for Arsenal actually.
We've won the Cup Winners Cup and Intercity Fairs Cup (predecessor to the Uefa Cup/Europa League). Not a lot to shout about.
Great stuff, guy has played a massive role in turning around this club so important he stays longer and finishes the job now.
Nice to have a bit of good news this week. We needed this sorted as if we had let it go much longer a lot of speculation would've started kicking up. Good to have this settled.
RocktheCasbah Well his EL League record for sure was bad. His CL you are right, was on par with the shit Wenger served for years.
He has earned this new contract, in my eyes(I would have gone for 2 years + option for one more but ok), but his next one should be subject to us winning us the league or CL. Cups are nice but thats not our ceiling, not that he seems to be interested in them.
Good news. There aren't any serious people left who want Arteta sacked or disagree he's been doing good work.
I think even if we fell short again this season, it would take a truly dire outcome to get sentiment going against this man.
This gives Arsenal the platform to try to meet fan expectations, whatever they are.
Great news, when Arteta signed on his remit was to steady the ship and make hard decisions to put us on the right path - he met that objective. I suspect his second contract asked of him to make us a team capable of challenging for the title and routinely qualify for the CL - he's met that objective. Surely now this contract should be all about winning trophies.
Burnwinter this contract keeps him with us till 2027, thats 3 seasons. I think at the end of that if we haven't won a big trophy we can start asking questions. Right now he deserves more time.
I agree. But it's very good news we're holding on to Arteta for now. I reflect on Klopp's time at Liverpool. Either we add up a very lucky and winning season, we grow far more confident in Europe, or City's level drops a little finally. That's what a major trophy will require.
In three years this playing group will be starting to split. At that point it might be best to think like a big club and flip Arteta just to freshen things up.
But for now it's match day four and we're the bookies' third favourites for the Champions League.
Chuffed he’s signed - best manager for us no doubt in my mind
One thing I'm reflecting on is the length of the contract - it's essentially a two year extension which isn't long (at least not in the new world of Boehly economics). Wonder if that was driven more by the club or by Arteta?
