I'm not talking about the numbers in general goon. I'm specifically talking about the numbers he trotted out explaining how we had overwhelming odds in our favour of winning with a single digit % against despite the actual performances on the day being not that different between the team's.
In any case, those stats aren't that important in the grand scheme of things compared to actual performances. They were just something that kind of made me look at him as someone making excuses especially after what he said regarding the players during the rest of the press conference.
Personally, I'd loved to give Arteta the benefit of the doubt. I'd had my doubts about the type of football he was playing from early on as I didn't see and clearly defined playing style. However I believed it was just a case of having time to implement his ideas better and things would improve. This only became clear after the Covid restart when he made us really tough to beat and solid at the back. I thought it was a good sign and fully believed with some more time he'd fix out attacking patterns and play.
6-8 months later I feel like I've lost hope of him being able to deliver any sustained attacking performances unless he changes his philosophy, something which I don't believe he is inclined to do.
It's a sad state of affairs but he's just too conservative for me, and conservatism without results is the worst possible combination I can think of.
