the reason i want arteta gone is that his football lacks any kind of coherence or attacking philosophy. hes literally now fallen back to having the team aimlessly cross the ball in to auba, who is not a good header of the ball. if we were showing very dangerous attacking patterns in the final third and just being wasteful, then it would be easier to say that we just need better players to execute his strategy. but right now, it seems like what we are missing to execute his strategy is andy carroll and andy carroll should never be the answer to any question you ask.
the team looks lifeless. we dont press with any consistency or urgency. we are not creating any kind of pressure or consistent movement in the final third.
its hard to understand how we should even be buying in january and in the summer to fix this, because we really dont even know what formation and system he is going to play. are we a 4-3-3 team? if so, we need another midfielder who can be a dangerous threat going forward but isnt a zero defensively. if we play 3-4-3, what is saka's role? is he a LM? do we need someone to replace bellerin on the right side? are we going to try a 4-4-2? if so, we need a striker to replace lacazette.
i dont even know. our transfer strategy seems disjointed and it looks like we're just trying to buy the best of the names that are available. partey worked because hes a midfield dynamo who can play multiple roles and play them well. but what are we going to do when we buy next? the only player that seems easy to say "yes, we can buy a new player there" is bellerin, because we'll always need a right back/RWB, and hes not a player we all want in our starting XI. that said, hes also not our biggest issue right now.
everything just feels rotten here. it seems like they are just going to let arteta tinker and continue fiddling with the gears while we cement ourselves as a mid-table club
