I know for sure that one calculation these guys were making when they hesitated on £60m for a 29 year old Watkins was what does that mean for a summer push for Isak, Sesko or Ekitike. These are the guys we’ve been after. If you spend on a 29 year old, they won’t want to come, nor will you have space or money for all of them or Havertz.
The winger market was a bit clearer. Marmoush and Kvaratakshkelia both moved, albeit for expensive overall packages. But if you really wanted to lean in, could’ve competed with the Middle East clubs here.
