Just caught up on that song and doesn't really resonate with me as an Arsenal song and it just grates a bit on a personal taste thing.

I don't think that you can't manufacture stuff like this and I don't think you can create songs for clubs really. Players and achievements time but that's it. I'm sure Arsenal PR will want to jam it on the stadium though at some point.

Manufactured PR attempt was trying to make The Wonder of You our anthem, from what I've seen this is just a bunch of Arsenal fans and groups taking a liking to the chorus from a recent release of some gooner/song writer from North London and wanting to adopt it. If the club play it it's because they've been campaigned to do so, I've seen one of our more prominent fan groups push it.

Don't see it working personally, but I'm certainly here for the enthusiasm from a good section of our fan base to improve the atmosphere. Our away support is now widely regarded as among the best in the league and while the home support isn't quite there yet it's come on leaps and bounds.

Well obviously, PR firms are useless, there's no way they'd be able to organise anything like this.

Which PR firm are you refering to anyway? I know we've hired someone to help oversee the process of renovating the stadium (including how to remove/replace the legends from the façade without causing offence).

Don't really mind the song, not that it's amazing or anything, but if our fans collectively sang it after we thrashed Spurs it would instantly become a classic.

It's a bit like a statue of Thierry Henry ... you can conceive and commission it in the most cynical manner imaginable, but at the end of the day, it's still going to be a statue of Thierry Henry every time someone recognises it. Thing about art is that you can't control its reception or interpretation. I like the fact that it amped up the crowd. That's the only thing I like about it though. There's a myriad of absolutely brilliant artists from London, quite a few of them are bound to be Arsenal fans. Yet we chose to go with a song that sounds like it'd be sung at some neo-christian retreat over the campfire.

Not my thing really, sub Oasis wank and, musically speaking, there isn't much lower than Oasis as far as I'm concerned.

Speaking of musical Arsenal fans, though, it occurred to me recently that Arsenal have missed a trick I've the years, Depeche Mode's songwriter, Martin Gore is an Arsenal fan and once wrote a pretty good song called Enjoy The Silence. Would have been very apt down the years.

Or Spandau Ballet's Gold. Old & cheesy perhaps, but major singalong potential...

Or is that just me?

It just about worked, the crowed fully joined in though as I said in the match thread, while everyone says the 'North London forever' bit with their chest, they definitely get a little sheepish for the second half 😆

It'll stick I reckon, it's just about easy and catchy enough to sing along to, though will probably take a while feel authentic.

Think it's great that we're being prepared for this kind of thing, PR consultants manufacturing authentic anthems to sing at games. Will make it a lot easier to accept the transition to being a loyal brand customer of Haringey Gunners franchise in the ESL in a year or two

ffs the song was not written as a PR stunt. Some poor Arsenal fan got his dream come true and you lot want to piss on it just cos the PR team thought it would be good to pick up.

Was released in February without much fanfare by some tier 3 singer songwriter who just also happens to be a Gooner. The lyrics are wistfully mundane (hilariously bad in places) and the singing is basically the same vibe as Hey There Delilah.

But it's got the crowd singing it and makes people happy and I'm absolutely fine with that.
