They have spent loads these past few years. They have loads of money. They’ll do as they intend to. Did it in with the American franchises. Our turn now
IF they were going to do so then I think we'd have seem more movement before now so as to achieve a full rebuild, and I think we'd have gone in harder on a few players/positions to ensure our match day squad had the depth and quality to regain top4. As such IMO we still lack depth in the bench. I also think if that IS your ambition and reason for the spend, then you simply have to get it done and get it right and leave nothing undone. As such I'd sign who is needed before considering the departures, and I'd simply look to get them out regardless of any fee received.
Also so far as I'm aware they have only spent big in regards to The Rams, most of which they needed to do so as to get the move done.
We need to also remember that Kroenke lost 300m+ re COVID, has already spent/authorised 300m on the club via loans prior to the summer transfers, and is now being sued by St Louis to the tune of about 700m USD re his transplanting of The Rams from St Louis to LA, after having already spent close to 1bn from his own pocket in regards to the move and new stadium complex. That's a crap tonne of expenditure to the tune of 1.5+bn regardless of the court case.
Most of the clubs in the PL era have spent over 100m in the summer to improve to gain top4, and then another substantial spend the following season to retain it for those who have. We have basically spent 130m to stand still, whilst the top4 have spent to improve from where they were last season. That we have spent over 400m on and off the pitch in 12 months indicates the size of the task ahead of us to regain top4. I dislike that they have increased our loan debt during COVID, as this still outweighs the investment in the team, but needs to be considered when considering expenditure by the club & KSE.
