I think the problem we are trying to solve is that running a football club is fundamentally a money-losing proposition given where player power is today. As a result, it's either a billionaire's plaything or a forcibly self-sustaining operation. To my mind, a change in ownership has less to do with infusion of capital into the club and more to do with doing the right hiring. Clearly, our executive layer is terrible currently (across sporting and non-sporting dimensions - commercial revenue maximization, player trading, squad building, etc.) and poor decisions are being made with respect to its composition (hiring of Raul, bringing in a first-time technical director and a first-time manager together, etc.). FSG has done quite the reverse at Liverpool and the effects show. That's the ownership I would look for, i.e., someone who makes good hiring decisions at the executive level. The rest will sort itself out. We currently operate like a second-rate family business which hasn't yet professionalized and doesn't quite know how to attract good professional talent. I don't think 50%+1 fan ownership solves this problem at all.
