not even close to being the same thing. gnabry was told in no uncertain terms how wenger and the club felt about him when they loaned him to tony FUCKIN pulis. that's where you send an attacker's career to die. it's like he personally wronged them or something and they were getting back at him.

He was playing like this for the national team in Olympics when he was with us. That was the whole point why suddenly Bayern got interested and why we suddenly at the very last minute wanted him to stay again.

He looked exellent for us at 17. I don’t buy that at all. He basically didn’t play for 2 years due to injuries and a bad loan. Once Bayern got their grubby claws on him the rest was history. He had an excellent U20 World Cup just before he left, he’s always been a super talent.

Yep. Hindsight is easy but we had a lot of talents those days. Malen, Bennacer, Gnabry etc. Not only did we not give them a proper chance in the first team we pretty much gave them shit loans. Even our keeper Martinez wasn't developed properly early enough.

I remember a decade ago we used to blood such young players in Carabao. This decade the pressure was so high we rather give shit fringe players minutes in there.

This is true in the sense that it was a god awful decision to loan him to West Brom. But the main reason his development stagnated with us was due to bad injuries.

Point is though he’s always looked like developing into a top winger, so I don’t buy that he wouldn’t have continued his development with us.

The outcome of project youth seemed to burn the club and the fans so badly, we pivoted way too hard to middling veterans. But hey, if we didnt, maybe mikel wouldnt our head coach today. Every cloud

We would’ve killed his development. You just have to look at Walcott, Ramsey et al to see that during the 2010s we were atrocious at developing players. So he is better off at Bayern. It’s still annoying that we let him go though and Bayern stole him for a fistful of dollars and nothing more
