And the thing is no Arsenal fan was happy about it. Most of us could see his talent. Even the 12 year old's on Twitter knew there was something about him and we still let him slip away. It's a real shame.

We need to move past that era emotionally. Wenger and Gazidis were overworked and it came out in bad decision-making everywhere. Our kids especially suffered. Bad loan deals, poor development plans, playing out of position, playing til they broke.

Edu and Arteta will do better. See how quickly they pulled Nketiah from Bielsa’s torture chamber and gave him a meaningful role. Or how they rested the kids at the end of the season to protect them from tough games and fatigue.

I think in Gnabry's case, it was understandable at that time. He was very injury prone and his contract was winding down. He could've left for free to Bayern or w/e German team.

No one could've forseen what he would become today. It happens to all clubs, like Inter and Zaniolo.

It was hard to see what he would become given how he was handled. But perhaps if he had been handled better he would’ve shone more brightly earlier. Rather than Pulis, he would’ve gone to an attack minded team on the continent. That was professional negligence. That’s why I mention Nketiah. His whole process is very encouraging. The Leeds DoF promised minutes. Bielsa failed to comply. We pulled him.

I agree with your points Claude, we didn't handle Gnabry well. However, he did suffer from knee injuries, so that obscured how much we got to see him play.

Some players just develop at different speeds. Players like Gnabry and Reus took more time to develop whereas players like Sancho just became a superstar after they left. I bet Man City must be fuming that he's likely to go to Utd in the future.

Agree. Also why I’m not so stressed by Nelson. Personal work with Mikel’s assistants should get him over the line. If he’s not getting there in 2-3 years, we can shift him. Hopefully, Willian can also mentor him, Pépé and the rest.

Sigh, I wanted Nagelsmann as the coach after Wenger left, think our destiny would've been much different with him at the helm. He knows how to optimize attackers and got end product out of Nelson. Surprised that the leadership didn't go crazy after him after seeing what their NFL team with that hot young coach.

I disagree with this, many gave up on him but his talent was still very obvious, especially after the olympics. I remember the famous Gnabry vs Ox argument and 80% of the people here thinks Ox is much better for some reason or so, but for me Gnabry's talent and intelligence on the pitch has never disappeared. He was also only injury prone for the 2 years which was pretty unlucky with 2 big injuries.

We mismanaged him massively with that loan. We also did not make him feel valued by persisting with nonsensical players ahead of him

When he first came into the team in 13/14 he looked class, incredibly mature for his age. He looked like a permanent member of the squad, not a raw project like some of the players being mentioned now. Then he got injured and did a reverse Gilberto. Whatever about Chamberlain, who was a legitimate prospect at the time too, we signed Welbeck and gave him minutes that could have gone to Gnabry.

Big Weng has nailed it again few months ago.

The defeat yesterday was really mindblowing, given Bayern's entire first team lineup cost lesser than Griezmann.

And the 8-2 is different from ours. On the biggest stage, with a full first team and conceding goals left right centre walking the ball in. At least ours is half a youth team and half the goals were long range worldies ffs
