They've really gotten under your skin, huh?
For any serious discussion to be had, the side that thinks it was right for him to be sold can't put words in the mouths of those who wanted him here. And for some reason this is being done to an extreme degree in this particular discussion. Has anyone said anything more than that he could become a Zaha level player one day, or even that?
I think it's disgusting the disdain with which a talented young Arsenal player who was at the club since he was 9 years old, broke into the first team and made 100 odd appearances, never complained, worked hard and had a great demeanour is spoken of just because some fans thought his talent made him worth sticking with.
Copletely agree, Rohit.
Thought we hit our lowest point when we sold Van Judas to Fergie but I was wrong. We've potentially just went and gifted the Top 4 prize to Everton by handing them this don. Liquidate this club already.

Disgusting? A bit OTT.
Jenkinson also never complained and worked hard.
This is professional sports, you get judged on results. And Iwobi simply wasn’t good enough.

This!

There is nothing wrong in arguing a player wasn't good enough when the other side believes he was at least in the context of this season. But you know that's not what is disgusting.
Also, professional sport allows individuals to chart their own course when they feel a club isn't good enough for their ambition. Fans aren't that accommodating with such players either.
Anyways, this thread is a great initiative by you, one of the best we have had in here. Good luck with winning this.

Great post. Very articulate way to express how a kid wasn't good enough.
I don’t think we will have agree on this one mate.
Let’s see how Iwobi pans out this season for Everton.
He's most definitely good enough for us and we miss someone of his quality.
If we sold him and bought say Zaha in no one would be arguing at all. It's the fact we left ourselves somewhat short again.
Iwobi and his 3 goals won't be missed as much.
For me I think he started his first team career well but didn't progress really.
Poor defensively, over-dribbling and can't score.
I hope he does well since this should be a reality check for him that talent alone doesn't cut it.
But realistically I expect him to be in the championship within 5 years.

Lol no chance, I would bet my house on it.
i'm not his biggest fan, but the championship is not his level. he's the type of player that could become top 4 starter caliber as he gets further development time at a club like everton that he wouldn't get at arsenal.

Pretty much this..
Further development time?
He's not been exactly short of match time given he's played 150 times in the last 3 1/2 years.
he just turned 23. far from the finished product. at arsenal he wouldn't be getting the same amount of game time the next 2 seasons as he will at everton. the games he's already played for us helped him get to this point, but he still needs more developing.
How's he done at Everton?

By all accounts he has always been an underdog (almost released at various points of his youth career) and he broke into the team as an underdog (with everyone creaming themselves over "The Jeff") so he is a proven fighter which should be help him overcome this setback to his career.
Apart from capitalising every word on twitter, he is clearly a talented baller and seems a likeable character to boot so i wish him all the best in the future!
Imagine if Iwobi got shown a modicum of the affection that people show Jenkinson.

He hasn’t played yet. Yesterday against Watford a wee man called Bernard did really well on the left flank. He was dangerous all game. He scored the only game and came close again second half. He will fight Iwobi for that place. The team looks up for that 7th place and maybe better if a top team falters.

Yes, I'm actually quite surprised by the reaction. People really like Arsenal themed pyjamas I guess.
he will end up as a central player and a very good one, too
Yeah I think so too, he has the attributes to excel centrally. Out wide he lacked the explosiveness needed.

Nice. Said it before, absolutely nothing against Iwobi. Wish him the best at Everton.
Iwobi left our bench for Evertons bench....
Imagine thinking he will start immediately in the 3rd match with no pre-season and 2 training sessions.
A blue Iwobi has been sighted.
Iwobi's played really well. Kean has looked very good too. Walcott, not so much!
Andre Gomes is well meh
Enjoyable game. Villa held on for dear life, but it was great to see them score right at the death. Celebrations were great. Good to have them back in the League.
Unlucky!
I've hated Villa ever since they sang that shit about Eduardo. I never used to mind them, but after that I just wanted them to go bankrupt and all their fans to become homeless. It's been a happy few years while they've been toiling away in the Championship.
Don't mind this Villa under Smith that much. Plenty of interesting players and they actually play good football. Very confident passing out from the back.
After 3 games I can definitely see value in Mings at CB. Solid no nonsense defender.
Take it elsewhere boys, this thread is for Sicaro to slate Iwobi.
It’s a thread to keep tabs on how he is doing.
If he plays well and I’m proven wrong so be it.

Same here. I was at that game and I'll never forget it.
Off the mark for Everton now in his first start.
