I went for the Sunday roast beacuse it's on a Sunday, get it? I also think that's the most british meal, right?

Anyways, Steve Bruce is the new manager of Newcastle. They have 3 players unavailable(or so they say): Colback, Lejeune, Gayle. Also 2 of them are doubtful: Yedlin and Ritchie .

We have Bellerin, Mavropanos, Holding and Tierney injured. Also Lacazette, Ceballos are doubtful. Pepe will only make the bench(that's what the papers are saying). Luiz will probably not even be on the bench? I guess, and also I don't expect Toreirra to start just yet. So it's more of the same like last season, and that's just sad.

Leno-Kola-Sokratis-Mustafi/Chambers-AMN-Xhaka-Gundeouzi/Wilock-Auba-Ozil-Mihiki-Laca(if fit).

That defense and Ozil & Mihki on the pitch at the same time, it's gonna be a long day and I don't want to say who I think will win, I'm trying to be positive.

Anyways, football is back and we should be excited. Hope to see some of Pepe, even if just for 10-15 minutes.

Would love to see Willock. He stated his case all pre-season long. Wonder if Guendouzi is ready. A lot of these players haven’t really lost fitness. It’s not like the old days when we had actual summers. At some point Fifpro needs to fight back and demand a summer.

Can't really see a viable line up with the players we have. Luckily Newcastle should be at a low ebb.

Whatever state we're in it can't be worse than Newcastle, fans will turn on them with the slightest bit of encouragement from us. By contrast we're on a relative high.

Need to make it through the next couple of weeks while the new guys and late returnee's get up to speed. If Laca is fit I'd definitely start him. I'd go with Clrnc's team but swap in Laca for Mkhi (though Nelson is probably more likely to be sacrificed) and play Auba wide. Or go 4-4-2 with Ozil benched.

I think we’ll see a 4-3-3 with Xhaka, Guendouzi and Willock. Probably too soon for Torreira and Ceballos. Just no idea who plays alongside Auba if that’s the case.

Guendouzi is about as far along as Torreira though.

It dampens the excitement that none of the new boys will start but if Auba can continue his form from preseason into this game then we should be alright. We need a good result so that we come into the upcoming games against Liverpool and Spurs in good form.
