He’d be meeting a much tougher foe at the other end in AWB. Won’t trouble him too much on the defensive end but will be a tough physical challenge on our attacks. I suspect Emery might want to soften him up with Kola first, and then use Tierney’s energy later.

I thought he did really well. I remember him making a lung bursting run to support Nelson or Saka a few minutes before he went off. Must have started from at least the half way line - couldn't see his starting position on the screen - and just ate up the ground until he got to their penalty box. Can't wait to see him in full fitness.

What I loved about watching him yesterday was his busting a gut to get back to defensive duties.
Monreal was the only FB since Sagna who did it when he was younger but he was not particularly adventurous so not on the level of Tierney whose offensive contributions from out wide should open a new dimension for us. It was understandable that, like Pepe on the other wing, the link-up play with the other players needs working on.

Also understandable was our persistence in trying to sign him all summer.

😆 Thanks, thought it was better for someone other than me to point that out. I did make sure that it was indeed easy to find out by googling "tuck in" and everything that showed up was literally pictures of tucked in shirts.
