FIFA will stick with Uefa. They understand that creating a competitive league would be cataclysmic for Uefa. They depend on Champions League money. But this case should be a wake up call. How should European football be structured in future years?
City have technically been caught because they lied about their accounts, specifically their sources of funding. But the real issue here is that Uefa has for too long appeased a group threatening to break away. But let's be real, these clubs are not going to break away. Their threat is not very credible. They make so much money from domestic gate and league winnings and that's also how they derive much of their identity through a fanbase that follows them around and sings in the stadium. Playing half your games in a foreign country disrupts this. It's a different 'product' / experience.
Uefa needs a strong chairman who will work with continental leagues to grow domestic revenues to reduce the Champions League / Super League aura for for continental clubs. And then improve revenue sharing. I'm still thinking this stuff through. I just think Uefa needs cojones.
