The players seemed to not trust each other, but probably also with the knowledge that if we lose the ball in the final third, we’re too error prone defensively to make the risk worth it.
The worrying this is, unless Lacazette really turns up and orchestrates our attacks, we’re just not able to play it safe and still work good positions. We don’t have the magic of a Fabregas or an Ozil to pull something off when the attacks, as most of them do, halt to a stand still.
So either our defence develops enough to make it worthwhile for the players ahead of them to take risks, Lacazette has the season of his life, or we’re fucked.
