I think the Pepe reference highlights the lack of off the ball movement into space in support from the midfield, and points to an issue we have without Rambo.
There was another article I posted in the Xhaka thread that suggests that Emery has made Xhaka redundant without Ozil, as there is no one operating between the lines as a passing option.
If we are not going to advance vertically by working the spaces between the lines then we need to go wide early and then provide support through the middle (either from CM or in having Laca dropping into the hole), as well as having the FBs going forward.
