With the profile of signings we have recently brought in, it got me thinking, what would the finished article look like? Fullbacks and wing wizards. Pace and trickery. I like.

I expect us to be much more exciting going forward.

They are calling it Merryball.

From his comments in pre-season I think we will see much more of a back 4 this year.

I would like to see it. A team that can connect passes, move the ball quickly and also overwhelm on the counter as necessary. This is how we should be approaching games against the bottom 14 teams. We are superior. We should look to outplay and outscore them.

If we complete this signing, this could be the first logical team we field in a decade. Even without a CB. I'm hoping Holding is ready to step up by October.

I agree that with Ceballos and Pepe in the team, Ozil is no longer essential.
Also Auba and Laca would not be needed as much in build-up play so should work out a partnership like we saw in the RM game the other day. Studying film of the Yorke and Cole partnership should help.

Ozil would no longer be essential, which is exactly why I’d like him in the team. We can finally afford the luxury.

Bold Tone

No arguments from me as Emery can now pick and choose the games he knows Ozil is likely to be effective in rather than simply waste £350k a week in the reserves because we cannot find a buyer. Rotation should also reduce the likelihood of burn-out from the forwards.

I think Torreira and Xhaka are guaranteed starters in any Emery team so Iwobi doesn't make the first team.
Unfortunately our CB and Xhaka's limitations will be covered up by our overwhelming firepower against most teams but will remain our achilles heel whenever we play against our top 4 rivals or any elite team in the Europa.
