Possessional play is the blue print, it can be implemented in multiple different ways based on the type of players you have..we are copying the City version in parts and that's ok as that's the type of players we have managed to sign.
Guardiola himself has signed a very different striker to what they have had at City in the past and it's just finding the best way to use him while sticking to the same philosophy. That's why I don't get when people say we tried to sign Vlahovic before (wasn't a fan myself) who is different to Jesus so we have no clear vision or that KT is now tactically redundant... As long as the players coming in are of high technical quality and good football brains it should work, if the manager can make it work... I wouldnt say Kyle Walker is you typical inverted fullback so they haven't been always using 2 at the same time.. Arteta is now, but doesn't nessaceraly need to be in the future. Think the ultimate goal is to have enough variety of different weapons to use in any situation.
I do think though one of the big challenges for Arteta once/if he gets us back to being a CL club, if he is to really step up to be a top manager, is taking this brand of football and making it his own... Not an easy task by any means.
