The harm has already been done. As we saw from last season the difference between finishing top four and not is a matter of a couple of points. He is a player who could have turned some of our losses into draws. Helped hold things together at critical points of the season. Similar to the obvious boost a player like ESR gave us when introduced to the team. But what’s done is done. We look forward.

Both can be true that the 3rd loan was not essential but at the same time benefited his development greatly. But you can’t help but that maybe we’d have been able to get 4th? If nothing else, it would have meant Holding wouldn’t have played in the NLD.

Anyway what’s done is done, even Saliba seemed to get fed up of Jeff Shreeves ramming it home over and over again that he finally started for us.

Martin Tyler's comment to Carragher during the match "ask Arteta why 3 years when you see him after the match" annoyed me a lot. Shut the fuck up, Tyler, you wouldn't know a player if he jumped up and slapped your face and now you're an expert on a teenager playing for St.Etienne, Nice and Marseille?

Sky are son cringeworthy. The whole thing from top to bottom. I hate having to give them my money. Roy Keane is the only one I can listen to - not that I listen much at all - and even he's a miserable fucker, but at least he's not completely full of shit like the rest of them. My concern with this kid has always been attitude, his and his agent's. He's a huge talent but I'm fully emotionally prepared for his outfit to decide he's too good for what we can offer.

There was talk when he arrived that we was hanging around some of the more troublesome characters in our dressing room. This time he enters a much different dressing room.

If we can't sign him up it'll just be proof he thinks he's too good for us, nothing more.

Still has two years on his contract but I expect the negotiations to stretch into this season annoyingly—at a minimum—just as they would have if he had been playing for us last season.

It would be a pleasure to sign him up on a reasonable deal, but I believe nothing will be easy with this kid and that we'll see clearly Arsenal's not the reason for that. May I be proven wrong.

It does amuse me a bit. The kid is an Arsenal fan. It's literally the only reason he chose us over all other clubs who might have been in for his signature at St Etienne.

A good salary and plenty of game time and I’m pretty sure he will sign. I’m about as worried about it as I am Saka.

One thing is for sure, if he keeps putting in performances like that those salary demands will only go up, especially as offers from elsewhere come in.

Look boys call it how you like, but I don't get the vibes of a 21 year old starlet who plans to extend by two or three years at something sane like £130,000 per week. I get bullshit vibes.

I sense trouble, and with the young, talented squad we've got big wage demands are a problem we'll face. I comment on Saliba's agent because out of all our players, Saliba's the one where there's regularly some press soundbite generating a disrespectful heat against Arsenal—which of course half this forum prefers to interpret as the fault of the club.

Saka's a great example. How many times has Saka popped up in the press talking about how one day he might like to play on the continent, etc? Zero. It's been about a month since Saliba was carrying on to the point people were worried he might not join preseason.

It's understandable if you consider his talent though. It's similar to when we had Ibrahimovic in our sights. If you could go back in time and talk to Wenger would you not have asked him to do and say whatever it would take to bring him on board rather than assert that he needed to come try out and show what he could do? And this kid isn't even nearly as arrogant. He just wants to play, and play regularly at a high level. He has a right to say that. And even if he says something off the mark that rubs you or the club the wrong way, you eat a bit of shit if you have to.

Guess what I'm saying is you make allowances for generational talent sir. And you damn sure better make room for him in your first team!

Why is it an issue? That's the going rate. We paid 50m for Ben White. Grossly Overpaid has beens like Auba and Ozil. Now it's a problem to do so with someone who might actually be worth it?
