I was always a tiny bit hesitant because I couldn't shake the the thought that Real Madrid might offer him the eath and turn his head this summer.

I think investing heavily in short windows and then moderating is fine as a model and should work. If you’re having to spend huge sums beyond your means repeatedly you’re doing something wrong.

Just need to make sure we don’t take our eye off the ball like Liverpool did with their midfield.

goon you need to be very efficient in the market. Buying and selling. When you fuck it up then investment is needed to fix the issue.

Edu has really been killing it.
Personally I’ve never been worried at all about Saliba over the years. Really glad he’s extending. This guy is one of the 2-3 best CBs in the league or at least headed there.

The 4 year time for players at this age makes sense. Obviously the club would like to sign the players on longer. The issue is the players are still young and developing rapidly. If you give them a longer deal, you need to pay them extra as though they’re at their peak for the duration of that deal. The players know this as well. So we are better off with Saliba at say £180k a month for 4 years than at £250 a month for 6 years. Those numbers balloon quickly. For now, we’ve secured him for 4 more seasons

Incredible though that all sour best players are on long term deals and our player of the season/captain is also about to re-up. A far cry from late Wenger. Feels good.

And having Saliba, Saka, Odegaard, Jesus, Martinelli together would be unfair in a world without Gulf corruption in sports.

This is the single best signing we could make this summer. Rice and Caicedo would be fantastic, but securing Saliba’s future is utterly paramount to any success we might enjoy in the coming years. World class player already and still nowhere near his prime.

I'm very offline at the moment for the most part (riding a motorcycle a very long way, mostly in the middle of nowhere), but just saw at a truck stop that Saliba has signed, which is really fucking great news. I don't think any young player's contract has caused me this much pointless anxiety.

With pretty much all our young stars on board we've got a superb foundation to build on. It's a generational opportunity for Arsenal and I hope we can get something from it.

Locking down everything. Love it.
Hopefully his back injury is fully healed and he can stay fit throughout his time here. These signings are sending a huge statement about Arsenal - For any young and talented footballer, this is the place to be. When we knock, lots of doors are going to be opening going forward. Also raises the stakes on expectations and emphasizes the need to trophy.

Credit to the club in terms of both recruitment and retention.

Don Pacifico I think the last time I felt excited about a back 4 combi was when we had Vermaelen, Koscielny, Mertesacker and... Squillaci. 😂
