I disagree.

There's levels to everything in life, as in football. This is not just any player. Stop acting like the same rule is going to apply to Mbappe as Maupay. If PSG made him certain assurances to get him to sign on with them vs going to Real Madrid, then he absolutely has a right to call them out, and seek to leave if they don't hold up their side of the bargain. It's his career, and his talent has given him the opportunity (to him, the right) to define how he wants it to go.

If Mbappé was all about football he wouldn't be at PSG, he'd take a 50–75% pay cut to play in a stronger league for a less ridiculous club.

I never met a 23 year old who knew it all, but I've met a few who thought they did. Players need to know that anything not written down in their contracts is not set in stone.

Shut up and ~~dribble~~ play doesn't really hold much water. Unlike most employees who are told to just shut up and do their job he actually has the power to dictate to his bosses.

It's obviously not just about the money nor is it just about the football. A player has the right to be paid as much as he can, and also play football in a way that he enjoys.

You can draw the line with limited players who are dime a dozen but supreme players can and have called the shots. C.Ronaldo and Messi from some accounts also dictated to their clubs where they played, who they signed, etc. Hardly unique to Mbappe. I seem to remember Arsenal signing Jeffers on the back off Henry's request for a fox in the box. If that wasn't the club assuaging Henry, then I don't know what is. PSG haven't fulfilled their promise to Mbappe so you can understand his frustation.

And what does rights does a club have regarding a player who has signed a contract with them? A player they're paying the highest salary of any footballer throughout history?

And that's why I take the fence sitting approach of recognising the club is at fault in some ways and the player too and deserves some criticism. ;D

Benzema just won the Ballon d'or, deservingly so.

Very curious to know people's thoughts on the Henry v Benzema debate.

Personally, in terms of legacy, I think Benzema takes it because of his five CLs even though Henry has a WC and the Euros as well.

But, in terms of quality, with both at their absolute peak, I still think Henry shades it. It might be my bias, but I feel Henry doesn't get the respect he deserves.

I find these debates hard. You get stuck in minutiae. Both incredible players. Karim has been one of my favorite players since his Lyon days. It gives me great joy to see him finally recognized as the best in the game. I love the way he plays. It’s a pity he wasn’t at a lesser club during his youth, maybe Wenger would’ve had a chance to attract him

No one in the top 5 under 30, two players in there nearing 35. In fact only players in the top 10 under 30 are Mbappe, Vinicius and Haaland, all under 23. Where's the guys in between in their prime? Did football just take a break from producing elite talent for a few years?
