I guess what I think you've implied is where the issue lies - what is the balance between him and Arteta in terms of who decides our vision? Currently, my impression is that he doesn't have much tangible input and if we need one thing it's a clear direction for the club (which we don't have) and I'd hold him at the very least, partly responsible for that if not totally.
How much of a clear direction can you really ascertain in the 4 months he's been in this role? I think you need a couple of years at least to even get an idea. Look at Edwards at Liverpool, now revered as some sort of genius, nobody really knew who he was until the last 2-3 years in the mainstream and certainly no idea about what his vision was. And even now, can you really differentiate between his vision and Klopp's? I'd say it's heavily weighted towards the latter.
We just need to give it some breathing room now. Since Wenger left we've had 4 or 5 difference leadership structures in place which is absolutely insane for 2.5 year period. Let these guys run it, make mistakes, learn and hopefully come out with something solid in 3 years or so.
