Yeah compared to Tomiyasu, some of White's RB heatmaps illustrate well the limits of his advanced support - its mostly passing potential from deep, middle isn't it. Tomiyasu was rumoured to join team training yesterday so hopefully he'll feature in the Emirates Cup.

Literally tore Fofana a new one in that first half. I think the addition of Jesus and Zinchenko will help him move up a level.

He needed to start scoring goals, last season only managed 6 league goals and he has two already this season.

2 games, 3 shots, 2 goals. Averaging most key passes, best passing success rate. Not like he didn't get five assists and a goal in pre-season. Nothing wrong with his numbers, and even last season if we just didn't trim the squad wafer thin and red line our boys next to Lacazette. Him and Jesus seem to be connecting well.

This is why I was and still am against signing an expensive starting winger. We have 3 of the best young wingers in world football at the club. They deserve to play.

After the first two match days we've had, signing a left winger in the next fortnight with an offer to start ahead of Martinelli would be one of the bigger "fuck you" moves in club history ... on the other hand, if Pépé is off one more versatile winger to compete, maybe.

The case of Pépé is a bit of a mystery because if you replace him, the replacement won't succeed either if denied opportunities.

Ideally you sign someone on the right wing that can take some pressure of Saka that will bring immediate results. Not so young that they need mins to develop but not so old that they're already over the hill. Also not so high profile that they'd demand a start.

Ironically that describes Pepe quite well but there's clearly little faith in him at the moment. Raphinha sort of fits that profile, this guy form Villarreal doesn.t

Yeah that's the trouble, isn't it? Whatever you think of Pépé and his attributes there's no doubt he's been set back by Arteta: he's a better footballer than he's been allowed to be. Saka's been part of his problem of course.

So if we sign a new guy, the risk is someone else suddenly doesn't have the "specificity" and doesn't get enough chances.
