Don Pacifico I think this is it for me. We can spin things a number of ways but ultimately, when you compare the forwards we have now to the forwards of our Wenger glory days, there's a big gap. Saka is (was...?) closest but even he has never looked on that level.
Firstly, Saka has the talent, mentality and potential to be every bit as much of a legend for this club as any of them.
Secondly, why would you compare him to the Wenger days? The argument of the day is that the league has changed so drastically from last year that we shouldn’t expect to score against mid table fodder and consider ourselves to be doing well to beat relegation battlers (not including Spurs). Why would we then compared them to to a team of 20+ years ago.
Saka has had a poor season by his standards. Some of it probably his fault, some of it probably Arteta. If you asked anyone a year or so ago if this was the expectation of Saka in 2025/26 they’d have laughed at you. Yet now we’re rewriting history to justify the blunt bullshit we’re served up week after week in the name of defensive solidity, and Saka is one of the worst affected by it.
