I don't think there ever was a final verdict. I remember all sorts of stuff came up about the girl in question. This is going way back now but remember vaguely rumours she thought she wasn't going to win so took a deal. For Kobe it was probably cheaper and less harmful for his reputation to take the deal. You hear stories of gold diggers and stories of young victims not able to face their accuser in court, hard to know what to believe sometimes. No one really knows what happens apart from those two.
A Washington Post Reporter got suspended yesterday after she put up an article about the rape case. I mean she has every right to do so but I'm not sure it is entirely appropriate just hours after his death with his child on-board. I also don't think it is appropriate for someone to get suspended for putting an article up....
