Kaka was physically dominant but it was an extra. The ball is rarely more than an inch or two from his foot - just look at that video I posted.

It's like (Brazil) Ronaldo - his pace and strength were incredible, but on the dribble his close control is the stand out quality. There hasn't been many players in football who could dribble with the pace and control that he had - Kaka may be one of them.

Ronaldo's close control was on an entirely different level to Kaka's in my opinion. Not a slight on the latter there are maybe a handful players to ever have played the game on par with Ronaldo.

Also just to be clear - I wasnt saying Kakas technique wasn't top class, he was flawless in pretty much every aspect especially his passing was an aspect of his game that wasn't nearly credited enough. Just his close control wasnt up there with the very best probably because he didn't need it and his mentality unlike Ronaldinho wasn't as playful

Is what Sancho does for Dortmund better than what Dembele did? I have my doubts.

dembele was only at dortmund for 12 months. if sancho keeps his current trajectory, he could surpass dembele's dortmund resume (on an individual level) by the end of this season

I'm judging Dembele's Dortmund season vs. Sancho's, not speaking about the future.

Sancho looks far more accomplished on the ball for starters. Dembele always felt rough around the edges with potential to be excellent if he ironed out a few poor habits and improved his touch and decision making. Sancho on the other hand uses the ball very well and has excellent game awareness whilst not having the same sort of explosiveness that Dembele possesses. So very different players, Dembele was more exciting whilst Sancho has been more assured. Sancho reminds me a lot of the Dortmund version of Mkhi tbh.

i see. dembele had mad assists in his one season there, but sancho doesn't have the benefit of playing with a striker of aubameyangs calibre. auba got like 40 goals that season from memory

Perhaps not, but I do feel that Dembele has a lot more highs and lows than Sancho does, which has lead to Sancho being more productive than Dembele (seen below). I don't disagree that Dembele, when on form during that season, was better than Sancho.

I don't particularly remember Kaka with any fondness. Is it a bit strange to say I found him rather dull? I dunno.

I do find interesting the fact that he came from a middle-class background. Good football is very often forged in poverty, he made an interesting contrast.

Kaka probably has a decent shout at being the best player ever in Serie A, more so than any player from that Milan era except maybe Maldini. I think he's generally underrated these days because the second half of his career fell apart due to injuries, and because Milan weren't a top class club during most of his years there.

Sancho is a better talent than Dembele. Equally electric but far more refined technically and in terms of decision making. If we have a big pot of money next summer I'd be happy to re-unite him with Nelson. If he has another big season he'll be out of reach though.

Sancho is brilliant, but he's also a tale about how good things happen to you when you commit to talent, and I think somewhere along the line we forgot this. We could probably get as much out of Nelson within a few years if we develop him properly. Premier League is a different animal than Bundesliga, but it's just a matter of sticking with what we've got and planning for the long haul.

Sancho is just a very very special player. Mbappe, Joao Felix and Sancho will dominate world football for quite awhile.
