They say it's inspired by this kit which would sort of explain the pale yellow. I say sort of because I half suspect it's pale because of the photography as other photos of the kit look like the more standard yellow.
Anyway, I think I like the pale yellow, makes it lean a bit more into casual wear, not that I often wear football shirts casually.
