Tielemans and Ndidi have been wishlisted here long ago before they even became fashionable

I know. I think both are good players but they are not a massive leap in quality. I think we are in danger of conflating good intrinsic player quality and good coaching. We have some really good players on this team. But we are doing our best to waste their talents. Across the board.

Yeah, does anyone really think that we'd be loads better if Tielemans was playing for us now, in this set up? We'd just be saying 'if only we could swap Tielemans for player x'.

It would be fine if we were talking about swapping out a couple of under performing players in an otherwise well functioning system, but when virtually everyone bar Leno looks garbage you have to start asking different questions.

I don't disagree. A lot of our players are much better when we have a coach that can build a cohesive unit with clear tactical style.

Out of the Leicester squad I will take Soyuncu out of everyone else. Big fan of him but during this interlull I happen to watch Turkey's match and his partner caught my eye too. Merih Demiral. Didn't know he was linked with us and only signed by Juve this season. Absolute tank.

We don't have good players in midfield or in defence.

If there was a World Cup on right now, how many of our players would you expect to feature?

There's a lot of clutching at straws when it comes to proposing the quality of our team. When people mention Ozil, you know it's gone beyond reaching. 3 months ago, everyone was in agreement that he was finished and needs to leave. Fast forward into the season, the narrative is that Ozil is being wrongly frozen out and we need him. Lol!

I like both of these guys. Demiral is a catch.

Ndidi has been one of the best mids in the league since he arrived at Leicester and while Tielemans was on loan people were wonder could we get him here instead of a permanent move there. Leicesters midfield is much better than ours. Add those 2 to a midfield that rotates Guendouzi, Willock, etc and we'd look a hell of a lot better.

Exactly. Ozil just become a symbol of anti-Emery-ness. He's finally been played in the position people wanted and guess what, we are just as shit. People blame Emerys set up for it too but Ozil was playing like this since he got that massive contract.

I doubt those advocating for Ozil to start thought he'd solve our issues, the point was it's better than playing Torreira, a defensive mid, at no.10, who has gone from winning MotM awards regularly to looking all over the place.

Tielemans looked garbage at Monaco and he'd probably look garbage here. You cannot underestimate the impact it has on players to play in a system that fits, which is the point being made. Torreira may not be as good as Ndidi, but I guarantee he'd look a better player at Leicester.

Maybe they'd look better at Leicester but I still think we'd look better if we had those 2 in midfield. Ndidi looked good even under Puel.

Tielemans looked seriously shit at Monaco, despite playing in a weaker league and more familiar surroundings ie language etc were all there. The teams confidence is shot to pieces, Ndidi would be a good buy but really we have plenty CMs who are currently playing several levels below capability

A different manager/ coach that fits better will make a huge difference. Only have to look as far as Leicester. Almost the same set of players looked out of their depth playing for Puel. One-third the distance into Rodgers' first full season and they sit in second place, tied on points with City.

Good find, good to see the club making an effort, and good to see the positive impact football can bring to someone from a disadvantaged background.
