You can add Havertz if you want and it still doesn't take away from the point. Especially as his lack of minutes also extends to last season.
Look, I think Smith Rowe is a good player, but I also think Trossard is great, Vieira has serious potential and Nelson is a real wildcard. Not everyone can play and someone has to lose.
People bemoaning Smith Rowe's lack of minutes will be the first to criticise the club if we sidelined a 30m asset in Vieira or if we didn't use Nelson after handing him a contract.
It's a team sport. Some people as good as they are are rightly or wrongly sidelined for other players. As it stands, all three ahead of Smith Rowe have only strengthened their case. Even if Havertz falls by the wayside, Smith Rowe is still two players removed from the starting lineup.
It's no mystery why he doesn't play.
