You don't want a potential dressing room issue around the club if you can help it, he's been sulking and played like complete shit for a while and he's probably one of their top earners, plenty of reasons for Inter to get rid even on loan.

Somewhere in Italy an Inter fan has just typed the same post about Ozil.

And if it doesn’t work, what do you do next summer? Try the same formula gain? Remember, Aubameyang will be 6 months older.

If you take what the club is saying as facts, that we literally can't buy any players before summer, what better alternative do you have than loaning players that can help us get fourth, and by extension more money for summer and an easier job of convincing players to join us?

I think it is a ridiculous position
What they are doing is they are trying to minimize exposure until they know whether they have Champions League football. Unfortunately, their approach this season is more likely than not to exclude us from Champions League football.

Buying Perisic would weaken our squad long-term, that I agree with. I do not see how loaning him for the rest of the season would diminish our chances of finishing fourth though.

You're paying him 150-200,000 pounds a week plus you're putting a space towards a guy who might not be here next season. That's an opportunity cost anyway you look at it

If we can't buy anyone then the space part isn't an opportunity cost. If the only opportunity cost for having an actual winger for the remainder of the season is that we have to pay his salary for that period, fine by me.

I doubt we'd pay him that much. Serie a has alot of underpaid players.  He's on around 70k/pw from what i read

The thought of Mkhitaryan and Perisic both starting for us in 2019 is so depressing. With AubA up top you’ve got three players on big money with no resale value. For people who say that doesn’t matter, when you’re a club who’s owner puts nothing in, it means a hell of a lot having players who are sellable assets.

Not impressed by Sanlehi if he does this.

Rumor is we're trying to structure it as an obligation to buy based on appearances and cl qualification. That would be ok with me

Was about to post that. That's a good deal, help us in the short term. And if he flops, just stop playing him and send him back in the summer.

James Olley: #AFC hopeful of getting a deal for Perisic done before deadline day. Talks are ongoing today with all parties willing to reach an agreement. Inter wanted an obligation to buy clause inserted, but are now open to make it an appearance-based obligation clause.

I am not sure about an appearance based clause. I really hope this isn't true.

6 month loan deal would be OK. Don't want a permanent deal though.

News from Italy is that we have offered Ozil in a straight swap for him but they have rejected it, partly due to their inability to afford his wage.

Perisic crosses are fantastic but what a joke if we are trying to do a swap.

Anyone willing to start a gofundme page to help offset Ozil’s wages?

Come on. You can do this for your club.

I've been a big fan of Perisic for years and thought he was the best Croat at the World Cup, but he's going to seed at the same rate Alexis Sanchez was. Gut feeling is that he's done at Champions League level. Granted, he hasn't been the only one having an underwhelming campaign for Inter, but he's probably been the worst (no small feat in a team that also features Vecino). Could he recapture his old form? Sure. But how many who want him have seen him play in the last eight months, or read what Inter fans and Italian media generally think of his performances? Why do you guys think they are willing to sell their fan favourite in January? And how many players retain their pace into their 30s, especially when they swap to a much more physically demanding league?

I'm just not sure about a appearance-related clause. If we bring him in it's obviously because we intend to use him. The limit can't be very high either because we only have like 20 games left this season.

You can't have an obligation to buy without some pre-contract signed by the player, right? I mean, what if he makes the requisite appearances but doesn't agree to the wage offer? The structure of these types of deals is confusing to me.

I'm not sure Coombs, but it sounds reasonable.
