Brady brought an unprecedented amount of success to Beantown. Combined with Belechik, he helped cultivate an aura of excellence that put Boston sports on the map for this millennium. Almost helped Celts land Durant. Great times.

And so with Brady's departure, in comes Cam Newton. I remember seeing Newton in the Super Bowl final a couple years ago (the only time I tune in) and thought we was a real talent. Hope this is a good move.

I think Cam is done. He looked awful last year. Perhaps he was hurt and just needed some rest, but to me he looked physically way past it.

I guess no one beats Tom Brady 3 times in one season. Sad end (if true) to Drew Brees career. Brady has gone to the Championship game in 14 out of the 19 seasons he's played. Insane.

Rodgers vs. Brady will be something to behold. Hopefully Mahomes is okay to play aganist a rising Bills team.

Tampa Bay's defense was incredible today, they made Mahomes run for his life so many times.

Brady is a freak for sure. Only saw highlights but his passing is still so direct. His ability to find and hold space - great testament to him and his defence.

Brady, Lebron, and Ronaldo (and to some extent Messi) are all freaks of nature. All 35+ and still dominating. Crazy.

but brady is in another category even among those other freaks ... he's 43.

he's had 3 hall of fame careers rolled into one.

i'd throw federer in there too. just announced a comeback at 39, and was still winning grand slams well into his 30s

Forgive my ignorance, I don't watch any NFL, but I always assumed that the sport itself is really physically demanding with a lot of running and power required. Despite that I always thought that Quarterbacks were pretty much responsible for distributing the play from deep with the protection of the other players preventing the opposition from challenging him.

In that they didn't run much or get into physical confrontations, unless the defence failed to block out the opposition from challenging him. If that's the case, and as long as he has good protection around himself, he could play well until his throwing arm gets weaker.

QBs are more protected now, but what Brady did considering his age is crazy.

He joined a new team that's been historically mediocre with lack of practice time due to COVID to a Super Bowl and was able to control players that many thought would blow up in their face (Antonio Brown).

Thanks Bryant. Not disagreeing with his ability or achievements. He is definitely a great player, as can be seen by the esteem he is held in with the game.

I only mentioned the protection to find out whether that is the reason he'd be able to carry on well into his 40s. If he is being protected from being smashed each game and is pretty much responsible for setting up plays and making passes from deep then I don't see why he couldn't go on until he's unable to throw the ball in the same way. That could even be into his 50s.

even with more protection QBs still get wrecked. alex smith had more protection than joe theisman and yet they suffered a similar fate. andrew luck was the #1 selection in the 2012 draft and he's already retired.

Thanks for the info Meaty. Like I said in my first, I don't know much about American Football besides the little I've seen in films and the odd random highlights that get shown on Sky Sports News.
