The reality is that Aubameyang has been playing almost non-stop, and Ramsey has pulled up in two games after finally going back to back for a few weeks. We are entering a period of incessant football. We play our hardest opponents twice on the next 2 Thursdays. I imagine Ramsey’s workrate will be required for those two games.
Mkhi has been our most effective AM this season, and we have missed him during his injury. Did you want him to make his return tot the team against Napoli?
The manager has to navigate these decisions over the next 3 weeks with games flying thick and fast. I can understand his approach. It’s completely defensible.
I think it says more about our squad depth than anything else. The midfield without Xhaka and Torreira was always going to come up short eventually. Missing Bellerin has been a huge blow too.
I really do think he should have started Iwobi though. That was his key mistake IMO. Iwobi should be starting every away game, his graft and strength are key if we want to beat the likes of Leicester, Wolves, etc
