I'm pretty sure that's the case. Can't be coincidental that 2 players from Atletico moved to a Chinese club that shares the same owner.

Carrasco had lost his place to Vitolo after Atletico's transfer ban expired so had a reason other than the monetary one to go to China.
Reality has now bitten and he seems to want the alternative of a normal wage in a more familiar environment close to friends and family.
The fact that he is willing to take a massive wage cut tells me he trusts his ability to start at the bottom and prove his value.
Of course that means he is most likely going to be a mercenary and play to earn a bigger contract like Citizen No 9's favourite player did to us.

Of course this could work in our favour if we take advantage and use his success to make a killing.
The thing is i don't think he will ever be good enough to attract interest from RM and Barca especially with his documented issues.

Remember reading something about some third party ownership and he didn't really have a choice but to leave.

He was a problem for team harmony and Simeone wanted rid. It's not as if the sale was a closed auction and Carrasco had the choice to say no at any time. The fact is Atletico sold to the highest bidder and the main dodgy thing was the underhand payment to Atletico as the inflated amount was an artificial boost to their coffers (re: FFP).

He wouldn't be the first player with issues in Simeone's dressing room to succeed elsewhere, Mandzukic e.g. is another headstrong bloke who's probably the biggest fan favourite at Juventus now.

He wouldn't be but to be honest I've always gotten the Quaresma vibe off Carrasco, i.e. he's not a serious footballer, and that pre-dates his decision to move to China.

Mandźukic got unfairly dropped by Simeone for Torres when performing well but that's the prerogative of the manager.
Not a like comparison to Carrasco who did not fall out with Simeone but had spats with teammates and a coach.

Mandzukic didn't get unfairly dropped for Torres he was at odds with the manager pretty much from day one. He wasnt poor but didn't perform really well by his standards either, some days he'd be good but others he'd be visibly moody and unwilling to put in a shift.

I wasnt saying it's a like for like comparison but there are similarities. If Carrasco had issues with Burgos he had them with Simeone as well, although I think the whole issue seems a bit overblown. I remember thinking he wouldn't fit at Atletico because he never struck me as a Simeone type when at Monaco but that he really did improve his work rate a lot upon moving to Spain. Might be that he felt it was too draining similar to Arda who's also on record saying Simeone's style was too strenuous for him although you wouldn't have been able to tell from his time there.

To be honest i only replied that way because you used Mandźukic as the example.

Of course it all connects to Simeone who is the manager after-all but i only seem to find repeated reports of Carrasco's spat with the same teammates and coach and the storyline that he is the problem seems to have followed him to China.

Yeah, from what I've read in other places his choices were pretty much: either you go to China and play a bit and receive great wages, or you'll rot on the bench at Atletico. It's hard to know what the truth is with these things, but like someone said earlier in the thread, it's not a coincidence that the same Chinese consortium that owned 30 percent of Atletico Madrid at the time also owned the Chinese club Carrasco ended up at.

They did that with another player we were linked with - can't think of his name but he was from Turkey & played as AM/winger.

Edit - went back and read some the earlier posts & saw that Jones had mentioned Arda (Turan), and I'm pretty sure he is the player I was thinking of.

The attitude of some club's leaders and teammates towards me is incomprehensible to me given my commitment and performance with the team so far. The team needs me and I want to help the team. This problem need to be solved.

Only one team made an offer, and it was not us. We are just perma interested 😆

But yeah, the guy wants out, they don't want to sell him, so him and his agent are pulling this crap, not going to game, talking to the press, droping names to the press, not training hard etc. As always the player will win but after all the fisaco the only way I would want him here is for like under 15 mil or something really small like that.

Dalians coach has said he won't be playing any games for the forseeable future. It does look like he's trying to force his way out. Maybe we can still scoop him up on the cheap if dalians hand can be forced

On the cheap, it's a no brainer but we should insure ourselves against the risk that he'll be angling for raise/move as soon as he proves himself by making sure he is on a 5 year contract.

I recall a similar smear campaign made against PEA by BVB and other self opinionated persons in the Bundesliga. There were comments from several sources about him being a disruption and discipline issues re training etc.

Turns out that PEA was accusing the club of breaking their promise to him about allowing him to go - similar to the 'release clause' that wasn't for Suarez at LFC & now we are hearing similar noises from China.
