Still primitive talks it seems
[Gerard Romero] Denis Suárez to Arsenal close. 2M€ loan with 20M€ obligation to buy. Barça will greenlight the transfer once Denis signs for one more year.
moving closer though
don't understand why he'd extend his barca contract if we have an 'obligation' to buy as opposed to an 'option' to buy
i guess obligations can still be reneged on if certain clauses aren't met e.g. he gets knackered for 6 months in his first game and doesn't appear again for the rest of the season
Yeah it'd have to be contingent on various "if all goes well" clauses—wonder if that might include CL qualification.
Not sure about Suarez's qualities in the longterm, but I hope we can get this done soon. I think it would do the team a lot of good to get someone in, just anyone at this stage who has fresh legs and is unburdened by the chaos that is surrounding the club. The fact that he comes from Barca and is a bit of an unknown factor might not be a bad thing in that light.
I’m wondering if this guy is the right Barca buy or loan. They have the carcass of Malcom, possibly more in line with our wide forward requirements.
malcom seems to be in the middle of a power struggle between valverde and the club hierarchy. by all accounts valverde never wanted him, and the club bought him anyway. he might be harder to extricate in a timely fashion and would most likely cost more
Agreed Gazza. Plus it feels dubious to get someone who has scored two goals this year to improve your attack, at least in the January window. If we're interested in Malcom it would probably be better to deal with it in the summer.

Heh heh
And he's not so big

😆
Well played Gaz
Reports in Spain that this has now broken down due to our refusal to insert an obligation to buy clause.
In one sense is a shame, on the other hand if we are not convince enough about him to commit £18m or whatever then it’s probably the right call.
On to plan C. Do we have a plan C?

The lack of ‘I’m gutted’ posts following this news speaks volumes.
Next.
Ffs, we're going to bring Källström out of retirement aren't we.
Being reported now by various spanish outlets (see Arsenic) that he's agreed a contract extension meaning his loan move will now be sanctioned.
Looks like this will be done afterall.
Ok, now, is he going to be any good?
Videos show he at least has a nice touch and can dribble.

Yes.
Cadena COPE in breaking news saying that Denis ha agreed a contract extension with Barca and he will be moving to #AFC on loan with an option to buy in summer. Details to follow.
If it's option to buy, I'm all for it.
If it's option to buy you can't really go wrong, unless there are other better loan players available. I don't think that would be easy.
Yasssss.!! Finally! Something!
We badly need numbers if nothing else even with Mkhi returning.
