Iāve been supporting OKC since the days of Harden KD & Westbrook. I know what we went through when Harden left and became a superstar in his own right. I know how things felt after KD left to the team we nearly beat and basically lost when KD missed what would have been a game winning shot. I heard all the criticism Westbrook got - he is too selfish, no one wants to play with him, he canāt lead the team. It was obvious to me that this young man had a competitive fire like none other before him, and just needed to be helped to channel it properly. I watched him singlehandedly will this team into the playoffs two seasons ago with no help whatsoever and win an MVP becoming the first player since Oscar to average the triple double throughout the season. Then I watched him do it again, and turn the triple double stat line into a ānormalā thing. Despite a career threatening knee injury (Patrick Beverly, I havenāt forgiven you), and multiple knee surgeries. Westbrook is the heart and soul of OKC, and has always been. PG13 is nice, absolutely special player and those numbers, while sparkling have been put up before and will be put up again most likely.
But yesterday was for history. Took the record off Wilt Chamberlain. Yesterday was Westbrookās day.
