Yeah fair I don't think I denied that the west in it's response to the end of the cold war didn't go about things in a great way. It's just not really relevant to what motivated Putin to launch the war and his aggression. He is another in a long line of head of state who has ideas of empire and that's what drives his actions. So it's fine to say the west has done things of that nature it's just not informing Putin's actions for the war like when he says Ukraine isn't a real country that's not really anything to do with the west. I agree he's not necessarily as smart as portrayed he's another gambler who has taken a number of strategic gambles in foreign policy that initially saw no real resistance so it reinforced his belief and encouraged him to escalate. He felt he will always pull it off and tries to run as close to the line as he can with the expectation nobody would ever resist. The Wests ultimate role was being too weak in response when it all kicked off originally. As with all gamblers he eventually went too far and work catastrophic consequences for those impacted. My original point was this has been the type of thing that has historically spiralled out of control.

I mean nobody can have been under any illusions what a corrupt man he was or how obviously he was in it for himself and friends but this kind of thing is still incredibly pathetic talking up his donors business as the president at the white house.

His approval ratings appear to be some of the worst compared to most presidents I think I saw something saying only Bush in 2006 and Nixon had been worse at this time in their 2nd terms.

Maybe the ordinary people who thought someone like trump would actually help them even for them it might be enough with all he's done.

Whether Musk and his Doge rubbish that also invented money they claim to have saved our Trump enriching himself and family is just one big scam on the public. Not to mention the most stupid decision to launch the Iran war used at the time to score cheap points to any country that had reservations when though history had shown these were disastrous campaigns.

Meatwad fair enough was giving benefit of the doubt elements of populism in the UK do have legitimate basis of areas of the country that have been neglected and can feel angry at that but then get persuaded that these populists are the outsider champions for them

Coombs I think some people aren't engaged enough or potentially don't have the skillset to protect themselves from this stuff. Not true for everyone but a decent amount. I was more thinking of the UK where lots of the old industrial places were neglected and led to legitimate loss of faith in government that then is taken advantage of.

Meanwhile, in South Africa, my diesel price is going up again because unlike America we don't have our own oil - from R18 last year to around R30 next month. It is having inflationary effects all across the economy and adversely affecting supply chains.
