Good point Speedy. I have no real opinions about Solskjaer (Quincy? Jens?) but it's not unheard of. The effect might carry over into next season too, but if he's not good enough he will get found out.
People forget that this was the case with Mourinho too. He arrived after van Gaal had just subjected United to the worst, most soulcrushing football I've ever seen anyone play. Not even joking. For the first time in my life I felt sorry for their fans for having to endure that on a weekly basis. José came in and was everybody's pal right away. He also brought in a loyal lieutenant in Zlatan who really made the dressing room come together behind him. Guys like Pogba revered him. When they struggled in Mourinho's first season Zlatan was the most vocal supporter of the manager and everyone else kept mum. Half a year after Ibra was gone they hit another rocky patch and it all turned to shit. Pogba was suddenly the most talented and merited lad in the squad, and when Mourinho stifled his natural game he wasn't gonna sit idly by. That falling out was so obvious in hindsight.
Solskjaer's real trial comes when Pogba and de Gea start to wonder what he's really doing with the team. Right now all he has to do to get the lads to love him is to actually play them every week.
