Son is going off to the Asian cup so at least Spurs will miss their most important player this season thus far. None of their other options offers what Son does IMO.
It’s hard to capitalize on one-off performances, by definition. That game woke Spurs up. They have been a machine since. Again though, both Spurs and Pool are teams that have been drilled for years and are the managers’ players.
The best comparison in the league is Chelsea. They have more expensive (better?) players but key personnel gaps, and similarly have a new manager trying to impose a very different style. We are wrestling for position with them in the league. That feels right.
