Sarri took over a team who won the league 16 months ago. Why is it such a surprise he's doing well with them?

You were talking about our luck in another thread but Chelsea were lucky to beat us, needed a late goal against Newcastle after conceding in the 83rd minute and should probably have lost yesterday. Would you be singing his praises if they were 5 points worse off than they are now?

I am praising their style of football. It's very attractive on the eye and he did the same with Napoli as well. It will still be attractive even if they are 5 points off. Liking his brand of football has got nothing to do with their results.

Emery has a much harder job transforming Arsenal than Sarri has at Chelsea. Our squad needs to learn the basics of defending ffs.

Not sure switching Kante from DM to box-to-box is the right move either. He's not getting the most out of him that way.

But you’re not though. You were comparing how different they look to last season and using it as a stick to beat Arsenal with. It’s not the first time you’ve done it and it’s not the first time someone has called you out on it.

Getting challenged on it and then trying to tell me you were saying something else is ridiculous. Especially when you had already defended your originial claim once.

Yeah I very much prefer Sarri's football as it is extremely pleasing on the eye and he has taken a shorter time to transform them. Think I have mentioned it more than once before, Emery is a bit of jack of all trades, I don't really see a very defined style in all his teams prior to Arsenal. We really haven't been playing anything close to impressive in performance at all.

What has that got to do with anything else? I literally said before this in the other thread we should have won at Chelsea 9 out of 10 times.

Do you believe Sarri could have us playing like Chelsea with a Ramsey Xhaka Torreira Ozil midfield?

They are essentially playing a watered down version of tiki taka anyway, and even the original grew old quick.

If we're comparing tactical transformations, I reckon a carefully drilled squad given the chance to express itself will flourish faster than a squad that's been held up by "player intelligence" and individual brilliance will develop discipline.

Agreed, only De Bruyne and Aguero come close imo.

Emery has a much harder task than Sarri. Emery seems to be trying to be impose his style regardless of whether it suits the players at his disposal or not. Impractical as it may seem I glad he is doing it. His brand of football with its different patterns is almost as cavalier as Wenger's was. It demands top quality defenders and midfielders and he is working with error prone, deficient in some way or the other, average individuals.

They’re looking very comfortable on the ball. Moving it around very well. A healthy Wilshere would enjoy this for a few games a season

To be honest I’m not sure who Wilshere comes in for. Rice looks excellent as the deeper player, Obiang adds that physical presence and Nobel is good both ways. That midfield is a good balance at the moment.

What’s their midfield philosophy? Why don’t you have a V with Matic Pogba and Mata, so you can go at this team?

It doesn’t help that they are playing 2 up front with him and Lukaku, but they aren’t getting enough service from the middle because a) team is sitting back and b) Pogba is the only creative. So he’s constantly dropping back the way Sanchez used to with us. This is a tactical cluster.
