City rode their luck more than a few times too.

I have every respect for what Klopp did at Pool and he should definitely get manager of the year award.
He'll still never win a league title with them.

That City rode their luck a few times is in itself irrelevant, as Liverpool clearly did it much more often and no other clubs were in the title race.

If we beat Chelsea and Liverpool beat Spurs, I'll just be able to take a smile out of this season. That is literally the only way from here.

I agree this has been a season of surprises but only neutrals, the media and spuds can call it the best since we last won it.
For me, i'm left hoping for a consolation of the Europa (a cup i spent the best part of the decade deriding) after enough body blows over the past 2 months to kill any fondness i had for the season. Add to that our ugly football, divided fanbase and success of every one of our bitter rivals bar manu makes the season great for the likes of talksport.
It doesn't even have the best storyline as 3 out of the top 4 were made up of 3 out of the 4 teams expected to be there at the start of the season

For me, our best season since 07/08 was when Leicester pipped us to the title which was the best storyline ever (again to the neutral!).

City winning it on goal difference with the last kick of the game in 2011/12 is quite dramatic too. Both City and United finished on 89 points, not like it is was low points total. 2007/08 was brilliant because there were 3 teams in it. There is always recency bias but it's true that City and Liverpool really pushed each other this season. For neither team to drop a single point through March, April and May under pressure is extraordinary. City had a tough run-in too.

Given the way things have gone this season, you know this will not happen. Once Spurs completed that inevitable turnaround, you just knew that this season was only going to be one serving of shit after another. We petered out like a damp squib after the 2-2 draw away to newly promoted Birmingham City where we were mentally broken after the Eduardo broken leg. From top of the table, we had one win in eight matches falling totally out of the title race and i'm shocked that some Arsenal fans consider that year a highlight.

I thought we were talking about exciting title races, not how Arsenal fans felt about a particular season. 07/08 had enough twists and turns. 3 teams involved till the end separated by 4 points. We fell away mentally after Birmingham and yet we led both at Old Trafford where we missed a number of chances before letting United back in it and we led at Stamford Bridge. It was a thrilling season for football fans, our disappointment notwithstanding.

No it wasn't. United beat Chelsea by 2 points, we finished a further 2 behind. United beat Wigan on the final day the season while Chelsea managed a draw, and even though United would have still won on GD had Chelsea won, the final game of the season isn't played in March. Then Chelsea finishing on 85 points was the highest points total to not win a title and Arsenal finishing on 83 points was the highest points total for a 3rd place team.

We were basically out of the title race in March that season. After Birmingham game we were done mentally.

That season is blur to me as i was so disappointed and have never looked back but i just had a quick google now to search for the twists and turns you referred to. Other than chelsea beating manu in April, nothing. That does not make the season a classic when they turned it on and cruised to the title afterwards. It was a routine title run with the normal challenges every champion overcomes.

It was only a highlight because that was still the best football we played since. In big matches we basically played most team off the park

You, all Gooners, Wenger, general public, our rivals (fungus, allardyce, stoke cavemen), everybody?
We played beautiful "Cesc/Hleb football" the year before as well which was just as pretty and only became truly effective when we had the cutting edge. That's why 07/08 was great till the loss of Eduardo as Adebayor had a 2 month goal drought after that. Nasri came the following year and we continued to play pretty football without cutting edge till 2011 when van persie decided to leave the sick bay and contribute to the first team.
