Mane is clearly having a better season, some of his touches and goals are simply sublime.
He is not stupid, just inconsistent as it is with African players. But the thing with him is he comes up with so many big goals in big matches, the one against Bayern is just ridiculously good. I know there are many people who thinks he isn't good enough for us but I bet playing for us he would easily be our best winger, head and shoulder above our next best option
That's because we have Iwobi and Mkhitaryan starting for us most weeks. Manè is a good player, without question, and he's at the peak of his powers right now.
I don't agree with this "he's inconsistent because he's African" argument. Salah is African too remember. Broadly speaking stereotyping in that way is nonsense. Manè is inconsistent because he's inconsistent. That's precisely why he's not a top player. His touch is dodgy, passing very poor, awareness is suspect--even on his good days. So when he's not scoring, and he's streaky in this regard too, then he can struggle to impact games.
Salah, by contrast, has excellent game understanding and his touch and technique is only bettered by a handful of forwards around Europe. Every time I watch Liverpool play he is almost always the guy that takes the killer touch that opens up space or finds a perfectly weighted pass to an onrushing team mate.
Even last night, whilst Salah was far from great and Manè's performance was dire, the former was central to everything good Liverpool did and the latter was largely anonymous.
