Suarez looks like his head is somewhere else.

Okay, I'm no expert on Torreira or Vecino, but how is the latter starting over the former? He's basically Elneny in a Uruguay shirt. Yet to play a forward pass.

Torreira also starts on the bench for Uruguay.

It's not that surprising. Bentancur is ahead of him in the national team and probably rightly so after the season he's had. People expect him to hold down the Juve midfield for the next ten years.

I don't see that sort of talent in Bentacur--was out of his depth against Madrid the other month in my opinion. Technically he's not special, nothing much about his game stands out.

It's Vecino that has looked very very average anyway.

How does Egypt stack up to the other African teams in the tournament?

He's more technically accomplished than Torreira, and two years younger to boot. I think he's the complete package Ricky. I can't think of many young midfielders who have a better set of skills. 6 ft 2 with a big engine, able to play any midfield role in any configuration. He's the rare type of player who can dictate the tempo in a game. A couple of years from now he's gonna be a star. The Juve fans are comparing him to Pogba when he broke through.

You shouldn't be allowed to wear the #10 if you're capable of such a bad touch (after Godin's run) 😆

Didn't realise he was only 21. Makes him more interesting.

I'm not claiming to be an expert but from the little I've seen of both of them, Torreira's touch, balance, passing range and abikity to wriggle out of pressure looks more impressive to me. Bentacur has the much bigger potential physically obviously.

El Neny lively the last few mins, nice passing from him

El neny’s game this half has been littered with unforced errors- both in passing and pressing

Been hyping Uruguay as an under dog, but then remembered Suarez's past World Cup theatrics. Hard to cheer for them, at this point I'm just recognizing their potential.

he's also been out of action for quite a while.. he's shown he's better than what he currently is showing

They're both very interesting players. Uruguay are gonna have one of the best midfields in the next World Cup if they keep this up. I've heard a lot of good things about De Arrascaeta too, the #10 shirt on the pitch today. He's still playing in South America but I think some Italian club might be in for him if he has a good tournament.

He's been one of their poorest players in my opinion. Has no clue what he's doing with or without the ball. And it's noticeable that his team mates don't pass to him when he's in space and calling for it.

Compare his performance to what Bentacur has produced in that half and then consider that Mo has the Number 4 shirt at Arsenal!

Yeah, he's been very impressive for Juventus. One of the top tier midfielder talent around. Shame we lost out to Juventus on him.

Suarez missing another gilt edged chance to start the second

Great pass to put him through from Cavani

nice save by the keeper though... uruguay looks like they've stepped it up a notch to begin the second half

Just tuned in. Took a look at the line-ups to see whether Torreira is involved. A bit disappointed about that. I guess I'll have to settle to watching Trezeguet play. Loved him during Euro 2000.

They really could form a great partnership looking forward.

Shame that they'll have those two emerge just as Cavani and Suarez depart from the scene.
