Depends on how you define the role - being nominally the most attacking midfielder can be executed a hundred different ways. Post Fabregas we expected Ramsey to take up a similar role with wide players like Walcott/Podolski/Gervinho relying on supply from midfield. Now we'll have the likes of Mkhi and Ozil to carry the playmaking burden and let Ramsey play his natural game. Can't see why he wouldn't. Don't think too many of the other big clubs would be in for him at a significantly higher salary - only Chelsea come to mind. Y**ted have Pogba, City have Silva and De Bruyne in their MF, Pool just bought 2 and can't see him playing for Sprs. Abroad, Bayern have Tolisso and he's not Barca's type. Maybe Milan if they are still spending like crazy.

Either way I'd stay it still unbalanced. I am not a fan of Ramsey in advanced position. Maybe a flat 3 will work but still none are great at retaining possession and would marginalised Ozil even more.. Let's see, I'm probably stuck in think in terms of Wenger teams.

His euro role is completely free in a 352 formation, quite different from any kind of attacking mid in a 4 defence formation.

It wasn't that different when you look at the position on the actual field. People need to keep in mind how compact that Welsh team was. Robson-Kanu was their striker and he was positioned like an attacking midfielder. Ramsey had similar responsibilities in that team compared to how he usually plays. I think people just weren't used to see him centrally after Wenger played him on the wing for a year in one of the worst midfield experiments I've ever seen.

From what I've read a pairing of Xhaka and Torreria as the CMs would be very different to what we saw previously under AW, even when we saw Coquelin partner Xhaka.
Our style under AW was narrow and centred around playing the ball through zone 14, which lends it's self to the midfield becoming heavily involved. By contrast Emery not only uses his CMS to support and cover, but Torreria seems to look to move the ball forward quickly rather than keeping it in midfield. Emery also reportedly likes to use width and the flanks.

NOTE: I use reportedly as this is only based upon what I have read, as I have not seen him other than limited coverage/interest in the CL with PSG.

I think if Rambo stays and the talk of him as being a key player for Emery is correct,
then we could see a midfield configuration of Rambo at the top of a midfield pyramid with Xhaka and Torreira behind him.

I don't think he's a massive player but surely 30 euros for Torreira is a steal!

It's actually slightly expensive in terms of Serie A fees. I reckon Sampdoria would have ended up selling him below his buyout clause if there had been no Premier League clubs involved. They picked us on a few million extra because they know there's a lot of money in England.

This is precisely why we need to scout Italy better. There's a myriad of good talent and good players to be had for a fraction of what they cost in France and Spain.
