Mavropanos looks good I have to say, that ruggedness and aggression you can’t teach. I will be shocked if he gets bullied anytime soon.

I just hope we do not miss out on the young talents moving this summer, as we have done over the last few years, because we want ready made players.

I think we’ve had ample time to prepare and look around. I expect some very good signings from the new team.

Not a fan of the signing. Seems we’re too committed to Holding/Chambers, when we should be looking to offload one (or both) and bring in some “nearly there” CB talent. There’s plenty of solid CBS around right now, and we’ll be using some awful combo of Mustafi, Socrates and Holding/Chambers next season.

The Premier League club intend to bolster their squad with signings who are immediately ready for first-team football and, over time, continue to recruit younger players for the medium to long term.

Sounds like they’re trying to stabilise things in the short term before moving on to the medium/short term.

Any time you can load up a squad that has one U-25 player in its first XI with a bunch of 30 year olds in order to solidify your grip on 6th place, you just need to do it. There's no other reasonable choice. All hail King Mislintat.

Personally I'd rather get experience this way than sign the likes of Mustafi or Gabriel who played a lot of football but never really achieved much in their career prior to joining Arsenal.

That said, it is a little bit concerning that there's no CB at the club that's truly exceptional. At least a couple of years ago you could make a case for Koscielny - even if he had an occasional wobble.

It is important if we do sign Sokratis to follow it up with another CB as well. We've been linked to a few good young prospects. Someone who might not quite be ready but getting close.

Essentially we have lost Koscielny for most of next season and Per is retiring as well. I'm not sure if Mustafi will hang around either.

He's a fighter and a leader. Exactly the type of CB and character we've been crying out for for years and Wenger refused to listen.

Quality signing if it happens.

He just reminds me of Mustafi with a bit more pace and experience.

Mustafi wanted out last summer, can't imagine thats changed much. If we can recoup most of his fee it shouldn't be that hard to replace him.
