Matic was incredible for a few years after Chelsea brought him back. Pure freak of nature. How often do you see 6 ft 5 guys with technique and distribution that good, and who are actually rapid to boot? Bloke was built like a goalkeeper and played like a small agile box to box midfielder.
They knew exactly when to let him go though. Selling him to United felt like something Wenger back in 2006 or so would have done; he generally had an excellent idea of when players were past their peak and wasn't afraid to send them packing. It looked risky on the outset but time has proven Chelsea right.
