Jorginho will be perfect for City, even better than Fernandinho due to his metronome style. He will used fittingly like Busquets under Pep. Best midfielder is a bit of a stretch though, he has his weakness and I'd say Allan complements him perfectly, allowing him to do what he does. Very underrated Allan.

Mahrez is a frightening prospect under Pep/Arteta. They are stockpiling on direct Wingers who can score and take players on 1v1, where Mahrez is one of the best to do that. He will prove to be a big miss once again when pep gets him firing, we should have pushed hard for him previously

Mahrez to start ahead of Sane or Sterling.?

Big money for a sub.

Yeah I think we're approaching diminishing returns territory now. They ought to be looking out for a striker instead

Liverpool will throw big money for Oblak. We won't. There ends our interest

who's better between oblak and allison

Oblak is certainly more proven (115+ starts for Atletico), though Allison (80 starts for Inter/Roma) may still be developing and if that's true he could pan out as a better keeper.

They're both in a tier that it doesn't really matter who you get, either is outstanding.

I'm not convinced by Allison. Seems like a lot of hype. Would definitely prefer Oblak, his class is obvious.

Allison has a higher ceiling and more complete for me. Oblak is average in kicking and absolutely terrible on penalties.

Allison could be the best keeper I've seen emerge since Neuer, but I have no idea if he's capable of doing it over multiple seasons. Then again I have no idea if Oblak works in Premeir League either.

Oblak was dreadful in that CL final obviously but that was a bit of an anomaly as he's actually very good at saving pens. Faced four spot kicks this season and saved three of them, in 16/17 he saved 2/4 and the year before 2/3. That's a seriously good record bordering Diego Alves territory if he could keep it up for the next years.

Allison is incredible himself and a lot better distributing the ball although I think Oblak edges it on the line as well as from distance, margins though and at an extremely high level a good notch above De Gea for example. The only one on the same level as those two is that descendant of pigs Neuer as much as I despise him

Also in terms of higher ceiling I'm pretty sure Oblak is actually younger than Alissom

Disgusting how even Liverpool are far more ambitious than us

They finished top four and got to a CL final.

We finished sixth and weren't able to get to the EL final.

Not really that surprising...

Have to say that all 3-4 times I've watched Allison, he has looked unagile and slow in his decision making.

I'm still not ready to take them seriously. Not for a long time yet.

Far is strong. In the past year we have signed

  • a 60m pound striker. They have no such thing
  • a 50m pound striker. They have no such thing
  • a playmaker to a contract extension that pays him 15m pounds a year. He’s one of the best playmakers in the world, even if we have our debates

Plus we’ve added a very capable attacking mid in Mkhitaryan, etc.

Sure, we also want our 75m pound defender, and all these other fancy baubles that Liverpool has, but to say that they are far more ambitious than us is excessive. Don’t conlflate seeing them signing players for roles where we have gaps (Fabinho, VvD) with far more ambition.

That's what I've seen as well. Seems like he has quite a few poor games a season, I've never seen anything really special from him.
