Only way we'll shift him in jan is if we cut him from all squads. Then he can't play the whole 'I'm staying to fight for my place' card that he's been using. Even then, we'd have to find someone to take on the last 6 months of his deal, and we'll definitely need to co-pay a chunk of that

I don’t know why we keep thinking co-pay. Just pay out. We are in a financial crisis. Everybody is righty for cash. We just need to settle on a fair amount for his bonuses and pay him his full contract to go. That’s what we should be doing.

That’s probably old news unless a new Saudi team appeared. He had approaches from Saudi Arabia and Qatar over the summer. But why would he go there? Would you play there?

Yeah his expensive problems still dog us (Lacazette, ozil, xhaka, mustafi, kolasinac). Those late years were horrible for sure

Hopefully, having a DoF will save us from ever experiencing that kind of cluster again. The DoF and manager can balance each other. While the manager can push for instant success by signing more established players (Aubameyang, Partey), the DoF can balance that by ensuring there is a good program for integrating academy kids and we keep chasing players like Gabriel and Aouar to improve our prospects of building a dynasty. Wenger was all instant gratification all the time in his last days.

Tbf there's also a hangover from emery/rauls short stint (torreira, guendouzi, over spending on pepe) and some ongoing weirdness from mikel/edu (mari, cedric, luiz, willian) compounding what wenger left behind. Hopefully that kind crap subsides moving forward

Guendouzi is exactly the type of transfer we need to make. No matter how badly he does on loan we'll get more than the £7m we gave for him.
