I don't really want him taking a single one of ERS's minuites, but if we need numbers and he's working hard enough in training then I don't really care if gets some mins in the League Cup or EL.

That bit in the article about what happens on the pitch needing to be the decisive factor in selection tells you all you need to know about how he views training etc. Honestly with his talent he should be 5 times the player we've seen this past season, but it's just a hobby for him.

Remembered Wilshere hinted Ozil don't train well and Wenger always have to give him time off. Freddie mentioned Ozil is unprofessional and now Arteta actions says a lot, especially for a former team mate who trusted him to start him every game and get repaid this way after covid.

Such a shame, will be remembered as one of the worst signings all things considered

Yep, him and sanchez beat teams on there own. The less involvement other players had in the games the better.

The onus is on the club to address the creativity problem we have. If we don't, and we continue the trend of low chances created, pressure will build on arteta to throw him back in like it did on emery

The 'issue' with this is it could also mean we'd need to change our formation and roles in order to do so.
At his age and with his languid style of play, Ozil is only suitable as CAM and with no expectation for tracking back in defense.

He's not suitable for the matchday squad, let alone to play CAM or anywhere else.

caughtoffside are not reliable at all. Like legit, one of the worst out there. Should not even bother to click on anything from them.

You can't split into 2 parts though. Even as a signing he wasn't worth 45m at all with only half a season of consistent form and flashes of brilliance sporadically. Not to mention his constant sick leaves when the going gets tough.

This is one big hell of a good riddance. Sincerely hope he can buck the fuck up at least for the last 9 months. Don't need to give us 200k worth as a player, I will be happy if he is at least as useful as a young player on 15k

Buck the fuck up? He needs to get the fuck out.
Even if he stays, once he is benched for 4 weeks there will be endless noise about him. He is an unnecessary distraction and link to a past where we overpaid and babied our players. If he hasn’t found a club at month-end, we just have to eat the contract. Give him a knapsack and bid him adieu.

I agree. Feels like the show of strength and the morale boost from cutting him loose would be greater than anything he can offer us as a player at this point. I'd love to see Arteta shelve him completely for this season if he won't leave, with all care about the legalities so that we're not open for a lawsuit or anything.

Except it wasn't their story - they were reporting it from a Turkish media outlet.

IMO the problem with signing Ozil was we never actually built the team or style around him IMO, & the closest we came was signing Sanchez. Everything else was still a compromise that he was expected to pull a rabbit out of the hat. The issue wasn't so much signing Ozil as it was in not following it through with further signings. Once again the summer we only signed Cech comes back to haunt.

The other thing is every time there is trouble at the club, like the lay offs last week, you can be sure he'll be out to make a statement shortly after. Its not good for morale or PR.

You can't build a team around someone that flaky and disinterested.

I used to say the same thing - we didn't build the team around Ozil. But I look at KDB. Team isn't built around him. He's just one of the front 4 or 5 depending on set-up. But he takes over the whole operation. Mesut just didn't do this frequently enough for us. Impose himself on games. And this is someone who can. Look at his work 2008- 2014. He's able to do much more than be this fussy number 10.
