Yes, but the point is that he's always sick at a convenient time and sick quite a lot. So either he's not really sick (which is my bet) or he is not eating enough fruit and vegetables, which is quite unprofessional.

as someone already said, the new manager needs to be hired, he should figure out what formation/system he wants to play, and then he should figure out how every single player in the squad fits into that.

if we play with 2 strikers, its hard to imagine ozil having a prominent role, unless he plays behind the 2 strikers and we play 3 central mids behind him.

And I do like the idea of that, but how narrow would we be in reality? Though I suppose if you have top players all over, we'd still be able to carve out good chances even against the most congested of teams.

The situation needs some pretty frank discussions between club/manager and player.
If Ozil has a good WC it may be an opportune time to sell him if he's not 100% committed to the cause.
However I suspect that if we replace AW with a manager who prioritises a dynamic attack based upon pace and movement,
then Ozil may well look forward to playing with the likes of PEA, Lacazette and Mkhi.

Ozil was the best player in the pitch in the first leg against atletico. And in the second leg he was ok. Rudiger had Salah in his pocket all last weekend it happens.

His time missing after big losses is curious and frustrating.

He was far from okay in the second leg let's be real. Atletico are extremely hard to play against but that doesn't make no no show any better.

Ozil can play from wide as shown at the last WC where he replaced Reus as LWF.
The key is ibn the duties associated to the role.

Far too often we still rely/expect the WFs to cover the FBs on the overlap and allow the bloody CMs to join the attack around the edge of the area.
I was disgusted to see Ozil & Mkhi as WFs in a 433 with them both dropping back into midfield in a 451 shape off the ball - absolute cluster f**k and just as pointless as playing the likes of Welbeck as part of the 2 in a 3421 or a 4321.
