That was the theory. The toxic players were harming squad morale and making Arteta job difficult hence the results pre xmas.

In the end it made very little difference results wise.

We actually are performing better since the dissidents left. It’s just not a significant leap. We don’t look like a top European club week in and week out.

The notion that we are at "the end" seems a bit tenuous to me. These were major members of the squad that are now simply gone. Without a summer window to address it, I don't know that we are in a position to declare that it won't make a difference.

Pre Xmas we played 17 matches and got 23 points.

Post Xmas, we played 16 matches and got 23 points too.

Yep, not a significant leap but then again post xmas we started giving Willian less game time. That was a key factor too
